FSA(fascaiated soybean of America), 7514 (definite pod habit soybean of china )and their progenies of specific plant type soybean 94-1-3, 94-1-4, 94-1-6 were used as materials in this experiment. The result of study on their physiological and biochemical characteristics indicated: in the progenies, their special inflorescence and leaf-inserted mode had effect on their physiological function.The progenies materials vary from common soybeans in morphology, they are acrocarpous, topmost spica. The progenies materials have female parent's character in leaf-inserted mode. Most of the leaves of progenies lie in superior part of plant, which are verticillate and can utilize light energy effectively. The inferior part of stem represented roundness, the central section and superior section of plant represented flat. It is an advantageous plant type. There is an important significance in the research for them. It is necessary to investigate physiologically the effect of different soybean plant types on their physiological function.The results showed that it is advantageous for plant to capture more light energy that most of the leaves of progenies lie in the central section and superior section of plant, which makes assimilation capacity of leaves increase. The leaf specific gravity and sucrose content in leaf of progenies are higher than of their parents. The nitrogen assimilation capacity of progenies in leaves is higher than of their parents, which is propitious for leaves providing nutritive substance to reproductive organ and greatly reducing the abscission ratio of legumes and flowers of their progenies.The results of study on substance accumulation and translation in seeds indicated: the seed maturing stage of progenies became shorter than their parents. The seed filling course of progenies is faster and shorter than their parents. The rapid dehydration stage of progenies is more early than theirparents. The speed of seed protein accumulation of progenies is faster than of their parents, and their absolute content of protein is higher than of their parents. The appearance of all protein subunit had an advanced trend as compared to their parents.On the variation of the progenies, the progenies materials had a trend that is different from female parent greatly, but similar to male parent.
