Baekground:Cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR) is due to cervical disc and degenerative changes occur around the structure gradually,bone hyperplasia,or after the change of cervical curve of cervical nerve stimulation or compression syndrome.cervical spondylotic radiculopathy main symptoms are radicular pain,the main symptom is pain,manifested as severe neck pain and with limited mobility,radiation of pain to the shoulder,arm and fingers,also have upper limb weakness and numbness of the fingers,when the pain serious the patient can not even sleep, were unable to alleviate in any position.World Health Organization (WHO) latest top ten chronic problems,cervical spondylosis is listed as the world's second largest chronic disease.Statistics of China Association for the Study of cervical disease in the year of 2003:the number of people who have cervical spondylosis is 86 million,among them,1.6 million one have dysfunction.Therefore,the study of cervical disease prevention and control is provided with great significance.The proportion of each type of cervical spondylosis,CSR is accounted for 50%-60% and 80% of patients had radicular pain.At present,regardless of international and domestic for the cervical spondylosis radiculopathy treatment,except for a few patients with typical indications for surgery by surgical therapy,most patients still tend to use non-surgical treatment.Based on years of clinical experience,my tutor uses Jiaji EA to cure CSR and makes a good effect,especially in relief of radicular pain,the result is very good.But mechanism of Jiaji EA treatment on CSR is not known to clinic,which brought many difficulties to spread the treatment.Objective:In this study,rats as subjects,are used to establish animal model of CSR.By dynamic grouping and contrast observation we will reveal influence of FOS protein content in rat hypothalamus and spinal COX-2 protein content in the spinal cord dorsal horn.Methods:40 adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group,model group,electroacupuncture group and acupuncture group,10 in each group.Surgery to expose the left C7 nerve root,carefully separating the nerve root and surrounding tissue,the quantitative formalin soaked filter paper on the C7 nerve root axilla.By immunohistochemistry we detected FOS protein expression in pain sensory area of rat hypothalamus and spinal COX-2 protein expression in the spinal cord dorsal horn.Results:Compared with model group,FOS protein and spinal COX-2 protein expression is lower in EA group,the difference was significant(P<0.01);EA group opponents acupuncture group,the difference was significant(P<0.01);model group opponents acupuncture group,the difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture can reduce the expression of FOS protein in rat hypothalamus and spinal COX-2 protein.Jiaji EA treatment can significantly reduce FOS protein in rat hypothalamus and spinal COX-2 protein expression,To some extent Jiaji EA can inhibit the expression of pain associated protein,have analgesic effect.
