Objective:To investigate serum sCD40L level, nuclear factor kappa B activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cell and their correlations with MMP-9 in patients with ACS and to explore the potential predicting factor and the therapy for the ACS.Methods:Serum sCD40L,MMP-9 levels and NF-κB activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cell were determined by ELISA.Results:The concentration of serum sCD40L and NF-κB activity in mononuclear cell of peripheral blood in ACS group were higher than those in stable angina pectoris patients and normal controls(both p<0.05). Serum sCD40L and the activity of NF-κB in mononuclear cell of peripheral blood in ACS group were significantly correlated with MMP-9(both p<0.01).Conclusion:Serum sCD40L level and the activity of NF-κB in mononuclear cell of peripheral blood were suggesting the possible relationship to the pathogenesis of ACS and they may serve as potential markers of plaque instability. sCD40L and NF-κB may promote the expression of MMP-9 and lead to the onset of ACS.
