Gastric cancer refers occurred in gastric epithelial cell malignancies, mostly belongs to the motherland Medicine "Stomachache," and "gagging," and "nauseating" and "Fuliang," " Zheng Jia," "accumulate" and other kind of disease .Recently ,it has become a serious threat to human life, and a major killer in China, gastric cancer is the most common malignancy of the cancer of the total number of deaths, 23 per cent. Although Western treatment including medicine, surgery ,chemotherapy ,and other means, but these are not ideal. This is because of the decline in the quality of life and physical patients, and immune function caused by the damage to tumor recurrence or (and) closely linked to the transfer. Use of traditional Chinese medicine with western medicine opponent after chemotherapy for the treatment of gastric cancer patients and achieved gratifying results. This paper aimed to discuss the theoretical base and clinical evidence of applying the method of Jianpi Huayu to treat the postoperative patients with gastric cancer who had spleen deficiency blood stasis and to provide new thought and approach for the prevention and treatment of spleen deficiency blood stasis after operation of gastric cancer.Theoretical research: the paper detailed the etiology and transformation of excess and deficiency before and after operation. It also believed that spleen deficiency, phlegm, blood stasis and toxin presented simultaneously before operation and that spleen deficiency was more serious after operation. The pathogenesis are as follows: operation leads to consumption of blood and qi; chemotherapy and radiotherapy impair healthy qi; excessive administration of bitter and cold herbs injures stomach and spleen qi; cancer or malignant tumor deprives body of nourishment leading to spleen deficiency; depression of liver qi attacks stomach and spleen; and finally excessive evil qi, deficient healthy qi and stagnation of phlegm and blood cause the metastasis of gastric cancer. When discussing treatment, the paper put forward that Jianpi Huayu are the basic principles and that mild-acted prescription should be administered with emphasis on protection of stomach qi. The paper also suggested that syndrome differentiation should be correct, individual diagnosis and treatment emphasized, psychotherapy considered for better curative effect. Clinical research: treatment group was treated by the method of Jianpi Huayu combined chemotherapy, while control group only by chemotherapy. Result: plus Jianpi Huayu of Chinese medicine treatment can significantly reduce postoperative gastric cancer patients with spleen deficiency blood stasis score (P <0.01), a decrease toxicity of chemotherapy (P <0.05), lower carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) (P < 0.05).Conclusion: Treatment of postoperative gastric cancer who had spleen deficiency blood stasis with the method of Jianpi Huayu and to improve the patient's clinical symptoms and signs, to reduce the toxicity of chemotherapy, thereby enhancing the quality of life of patients.
