Study Of Clinical Application Of Nutritional Risk Screening Tools

Objective(1)To investigate the incidence of malnutrition in community hospitals in Xi'an City;(2)To evaluate the application of Nutritional Risk Screening 2002(NRS2002)in inpatients in Xi'an City;(3)To evaluate the usage of nutritional support in community hospitals in Xi'an City by NRS2002 .MethodsTotally 729 patients from 6 departments(Digestive System ,Urology ,Respiratory Medicine,Neurology,General Surgery,and Thoracic Surgery)were enrolled in this study by fixed-point consecutive sampling.NRS2002 was performed in all patients.The assessment of nutritional risk were carried out in the next morning enrolled, but the patients who could not used NRS would examine the serum albumin(sALB)which<30 g/L as malnutrition.The body mass index(BMI)was adopted by Chinese standard which lowered than 18.5 kg /m as malnutrition.Data were collected on the nutritional risk screening, application of nutritional support.Results711 patients could be evaluated by NRS 2002,and the incidence of malnutrition is 8.2%. 35.7% patients were judged at the risk of malnutrition by NRS.23.0% patients were supported by EN/PN,but only 23.8% of the application were used correctly.CONCLUSION(1) NRS2000 can help doctors identify nutritional risks and the necessity of nutrition support.(2) There is misuse of nutritional support in community hospitals in Xi'an City .
