The thesis discusses Identical Writing using a comparative way in the view of cultural history, which typically chooses the Chinese characters in East Asia and Latin in Western Europe for study object.It is divided into four parts:The first part is the literature review of this article. It presents the theoretical basis at first, which describes the existing study circumstance of relevant scholars at home and abroad. And then it discusses the relationship between writing and canon from the aspect of canonization, the maintenance and spread of canon. According to the article canonization is the formation process of cultural identification gene, the maintenance of canon shows the ambition of fighting for authoritative discourse, the spread of canon leads to the regional cultural identification. Last, it is some complementary explanations about the thesis writing.The second part depicts the Identical Writing from the perspective of East Asia. Firstly, this thesis finds the reason why Identical Writing is established and developed by analyzing the output circumstance of Chinese characters and Confucianism and the input in Korea, Vietnam and Japan, namely the result of Chinese culture spread to the surrounding world. Next it is the survey of the maintenance work of Identical Writing in East Asia. The article analyses the social functions of classical Chinese, and concludes that the study and use of Chinese characters and Confucianism builds a sizeable community of writing. Their existence and action is the key of the continuation and development of Identical Writing Age. And ultimately it puts forward that the interaction of Chinese characters and Confucianism shapes the cultural identification within this region. And then it is the analysis of the disintegration of Identical Writing, puts forward that it is the need of localization, nationalization and popularization of writing.The third part is from the perspective of Western Europe, and which is considered as a whole. First it is about the establishment of Identical Writing in Western Europe, one important and direct reason is the military conquest of the Roman Empire. Secondly this thesis talks about the development of Identical Writing in Western Europe. And it finds that the spread and development of Christianity plays a vital role in promoting and extending Identical Writing. In Western Europe during the Middle Ages Christianity uses its absolute spirit authority and powerful organizational strength to guide and control all aspects of social life. In the limited field of education and culture, using the Bible of Latin version as a media Christianity links the whole Europe together in an unprecedented manner. By learning and using Latin, it also gathers some communities, which promotes a series of identity. And just because of the communities, Western Europe is united under the banner of Latin and the Bible. Lastly when it is about the reason why Identical Writing is disintegrated the thesis focuses on the value and meaning of rediscovering the Bible.The fourth part is the summary of Identical Writing in East Asia and Western Europe. The thesis sums up the similarities and differences from the establishment, maintaining and disintegration of Identical Writing. And it concludes that it is the power of canon aggregates people's minds, the interaction of writing and canon shapes regional attributive identification.
