Political compromise refers to a mechanism which relaxes and even resolves contradictions between some political parts by the peaceful ways such as communication and negotiation in a certain community, in order to realize the common interests and avoid the mutual loss. The absence of political compromise is one of the main reasons which had led constitutionalism to fail in modern history of China. The Communist Party of China (CPC) has made many political compromises or political concessions on the road of pursuing democracy and constitutionalism. Especially during the period between 1945 and 1946 when Chongqing Negotiations and the Political Consultive Conference were hold, the CPC has spared no effort to made a great number of political compromises in order to realize its political propositions of peace, democracy and constitutionalism. Although the political compromises made by the CPC proved to be invalid and enventally failed to achieve all its original goals owing to the fault of civil war launched by Kuomintang, these political compromises still have many positive effects on the development of the CPC and the Chinese revolution under the horizon of the main course of the revolution. Nowadays, we can also find that these political compromises are the embodiment of political wisdom which come from perfect skill converting politics into art, and they are also the invaluable political experience and the precious political wealth of the CPC in terms of the great cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
