E .M .Foster (Edward Morgan Forster, 1879-1970) was one of the greatest novelist in British in half of the 20th century. He who lay in the status of the history of English Literature only by six novels became the man who enjoy equal popularity with Lawrence, Woolf, Conrad and others famous modern writers. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the "marginal men" in Foster's novels, especially according to the four novels which are A Room with a View, Where Angels fare to Tread, A Passage to India, Morris. Starting from the three types of "marginal men"as British middle-class women, male homosexuals, colonized people, the article analyze the features of these "marginal men" who were in the other status, and what efforts the author made to seek the harmonious, thus we can find the reason why author would pay close attention to them, that is the impact of the family for him, young at the time of the educational experience, Liberal-humanism feelings of intellectual elite in middle-class.First, the part of the preface is about to introduce the author and his works; second, it is about the research at home and abroad; the practical's significance and the feasibility is in the third;finally, make the definition to "marginal men", these were the men who were drifte in spiritual. The first chapter is divided into three sections, is mainly a general analysis of "marginal men" in Forster's novels, these were the right men drifted away from the center edge of the British middle-class women, hovering at the edge of love and social morality of Male homosexuality, struggling in the " fringe "of the colonized people of India, from the analysis of these three to start the edge image, they come to the edge is because of the existence of patriarchy, and the colonial power overseas is an extension of patriarchy. The second chapter is divided into three sections, focuses on the the main features of "marginal men", they were always in the other status examined by the so-called self; the second section is the analysis about the sense of anxiety of "marginal men", through the study we can find that the anxiety was from space and self-identification; the third section analyze the rebels of "Marginal men", including the cultural identity of the rebels and the rebels to traditional moral. ChapterⅢis still divided into three sections, mainly focus on how to find their homes , and this "home"through the three channels were found,it was "nature", "music and poetry", "link", in Foster's novels, the"marginal men"in the spirit of nature to find their homes; in the music and poetry to find the true self, can be"linked"to reach the other side of the word. Although it was only the author 's Utopian dream, but it was the performance of an elite of intellectuals humanity.ChapterⅣis also divided into three sections, which focuses on is the condensation of the"marginal man", first of all is that the special context of the times created the group of "marginal men", in addition, the living environment and Forster's experience of education were relation with the creation of "marginal man"; At the same time, Foster was a Male Homosexuality, this behaviour was prohibited at that time, so Foster was excluded from the mainstream; as an elite intellectuals, he used his own unique voice crying for the edge of people. The last point I must mention is his Liberal-Humanism which is contrary to imperial ideology. Finally, we can not ignore limitations of the image the author described, that is, the "marginal men" he concerned were belong to the category of middle-class areas, including the edge of the colonial image, they were not the kind of living in the bottom of the colonized people, but a group of a certain social status, a certain degree of cultural knowledge of men and women; in addition, limitation is also reflected in the articles is that the voices of discord, including the writing of Indian, or Lilia in the Where Angels Fare to Tread, it will not be conscious of the issue of a Euro-centric thinking, and this ideology, is the overseas of the thinking of the British male.
