Samuel Barber is one of the most respected American composers in the mid-20th century. Mainly in music environment just like pluralism, advocating fashion and changing quickly in 20th century, his creation and writing had persisted throughout the 19th century European musical style, not only focused on melody and singing, but also combined the use of various kinds of new musical language and the creative technique. His works has touched innumerable audience by a strong romantic atmosphere, the intense emotion expressed and the huge theatrical conflict. Even more some of his works has been seemed to be representative of the period of American music, moreover also let him won many international honors.All in his life, he wrote about 103 vocal solo songs. These songs became the essences of Barber's create because of their singing rich melodies. The song cycle"Hermit Songs"was composed by Barber at the height of his powers which written on the margins of manuscripts by monks and scholars during the 8th to 13th centuries. This work not only unfolded Barber, after 1940s, to draw experiences from the creative techniques of modern music, but also concentrated has manifested him take the poetry as the independent entity song creation idea. The ten Hermit songs in their diversity seem to represent a summary of Barber's stylistic development with regard to his songs at midcareer and also this text has become one of his best known works.This article begins at the descriptions of the early attempts from Barber's creation to the final maturity and formed its unique style of the whole creative process begins and generally summed up in his songs in the main features; introduced the "Hermit Songs" in the background, including their sources of poetry, creative motivation and premiere course; and then from the meaning of each song poems, musical structure, and tone of voice and accompaniment in areas such as texture analysis, characteristics of the whole work be summed up in the music; Finally, based on experience of my studies and performances, I sum up what should be paid more attention to in the work.
