The robot soccer system is a multi-intelligent development system, which has high influence on colleges and universities all around the world. it involves artificial intelligence, computer science, information technology, mechatronics, communication system, image processing, pattern recognition, mechanical drive and control, sensors and data fusion. Trough soccer robot competitions, the technologies included in robot system are improved progressively.With the idea of developing a low-cost, high-performance robot system, this paper described the robot soccer competitions and researches on the soccer robot system in-depth. According to the specific requirements composed of subsystems, the composition of football robot car robot subsystem, communication subsystem, decision-making subsystem and visual subsystems have been studied and re-designed. Then, when focusing on the vision subsystem as the research object, the hardware of the visual subsystem were reselected and designed, software were reconstructed and its control programs were made. Through research, problems of the vision subsystem in image acquisition, image processing and segmentation, image recognition and other aspects were solved, the identify ability and the level of real-time situation determine of the visual subsystem were improved.In robot soccer, the robot moves with a variety behavior which are derived from the directives issued by the decision making subsystem。while the appropriate directives are issued by the decision making subsystem, the real-time information collected by the visual subsystem must be based on。Therefore, the visual subsystem was studied and its hardware and software were developed, which help to improve the cognitive abilities of soccer robot and identification efficiency. After the study, the soccer robot system was invented and achieved good results in robot soccer competition in the country. Form this we can see, this research and the design are feasible.
