Almost every country is facing problems caused by urban sprawl and transportation motorization, and a lot kind of transportation as well as investment policies are tried to solve the problems. However, it is difficult to say what can be actually used to help if we don't know why people decide to choose one mode. Many factors will take effect when people make a decision, but only a few of those factors such as income, distance etc. can be taken into account while the other factors like social status, perception and preference are difficult to observe to be disregard. In this paper factors are analysed form the perceptin of a system and data is collected through questionnaire survey. Some unobservable factors are measured by means of latent variable analysis and factor analysis method are adopted to work out the relationship among all factors in order to bring down the multicollinearity of each other, that is to bring down the impact of each other so that to make them much more suitable for the estimation of the logit model as explain variables. The analysis results show that except for the income, distance, the social status, the perception as well as the preference of people also plays an important part. The factor analysis shows that the social status of people can be indicated by household yearly income, personal monthly income, car ownership as well as occupation of people, and perception of people can be indicated by their comment on travel mode while preference can be indicated by what mode will be preferred. The factors aquired by factor analysis are used as explain variables of logit model, so that the variable choosing can be easier and the estimation of the logit model can be much more accurate.
