With the increasing market competition, technological innovation has become the key to the survival and development of a company. In recent years, the money that spent on R&D has increased, enterprises pay great attention to R&D activities as they are sources of technological innovation. In this paper, the existing theories of technological innovation, R&D theories and other theories are used as the research basis, besides; the concept of technological innovation capability has also been put forward. further theoretical analysis shows that R&D and technological innovation capability has certain inherent relationship. In addition, because different sources of R&D investment have different supervision and incentives on R&D activities, which will affect the efficiency and effectiveness as well as technological innovation capability. This paper chooses three different sources of R&D funding as part of the variables, the statistical data is based on the large and medium industrial enterprises in China from1991 to 2008. this paper uses Integration analysis and the Granger causality test as research methods. The paper is divided into four parts; the first part is introduction, which describes the research background and the significance of this paper, as well as literature reviews. the second part is about the analysis of relevant theories, the third part is the core part of this paper, firstly, it's about empirical analysis of R&D investment and its corelation between technological innovation capability, the results indicate that R&D investment by enterprises and technological innovation capability has non-linear relationship, which can be demonstrated as a curve model, secondly, sources of R&D and technological innovation capability has co-integration relation, Granger causality test shows that, at different times, sources of funding and technological innovation capability has different causality relations under different lag circumstances, the fourth part are conclusions and recommendations.
