A series of major incidents on food safety have taken place in recent years, such as Big Head event (2004), apple snails event (2006), Sanlu milk powder incident (2009), Hainan poison bean, zucchini drug events (2010), waste oil event (2010), Shuanghui "lean" event (2011),which have resulted in increasingly widespread public concerns over food safety. For most of safety issues mainly happened in big cities, the majority of rural areas are paid less attention to and researched on, thus for the following, the author attempted to take a further study focused on food safety in the rural areas of china, from a sociological point of view, contributing to the accumulation of material related to sociological theories.In specific operations, the paper picked on jiangxi county y as a individual case and conducted a survey there. By investigating into the poor food consumptions in the rural areas within this county, it focused on exploring the deep reasons and possible risks behind the poor goods consuming behavior and the current consumption status there in order to form a better understanding of these complicated phenomena. This article could be mainly divided into three partsThe first part is the introduction, which is in main accounts of the original motivation for the topic. The adoption of related theories on consumption and author's narration in the paper laid the foundations of the research program, ideas and research approaches of the passage. Based on the practical analysis on poor food consumption in the rural area of county y, the second part conducts an analysis on the food consuming behavior, consuming attitudes and probable consuming risks ,as well as the ways to protect legal rights and governmental reactions in a more explicit way.The third part strives to give an answer to the consuming conditions mentioned above. In this part, such kind of four major factors that have profound influences on the poor food consumption are stated: relevant government departments, producers and sellers, consumers and social sectors. Among those factors, governmental supervision is of the most significance, besides, consumer's awareness, the moral self discipline of producers and sellers as well as public opinion al l have a major impact on safety issues.The last part provides some feasible suggestions and strategies in line with those phenomena and problems mentioned above, in the hope of bringing about more future profound and excellent researches on the food consumption issues, as necessary intellectual support to relevant problems.
