| This thesis empirically examines the effect of diversification on the listed logistic corporation. For the general enterprises, the choice of business strategies is the key to survival, as well as for the logistic corporations. The conference in State Council Executive indicates that the logistics industry is an integration of transport, warehousing, freight forwarders, and information industries, which is a composite services industry. Besides, it has a high-impact fact of absorbing more employment and promoting production and consumption. Since it is an integration of transport, warehousing and freight companies, the paper want to study whether the diversification will lead to better business performance. The discussion of diversification strategy and corporate performance has always been the focus in theoretical circles, and for the logistics enterprises, is the relationship between them the same as general enterprises? To study these issues, this paper takes Shanghai and Shenzhen listed companies as samples, analyzing the relationship between diversification and performance with logistic listed company. The paper is divided into four parts, which are summarized below:Literature review section describes the theoretical research of domestic and foreign scholars about the diversification, including the classification and motivation of diversification. The next is the relationship between diversification and performance. Following by the literature review, the paper describe the status of diversified business on listed logistics enterprises. Then the samples are classified according to the classification of Wrigley. At last, the paper analyzed the diversified motivation of logistics enterprises, and introduced the diversification of risk.Chapterâ…£presents the study hypothesis at first, selects the 43 listed companies as the research sample, and collects data from 2006 to 2008. According to entropy method, the paper measures the degree of diversification. Finally, the paper reaches a conclusion though regression analysis. Chapter V discusses the empirical results about diversification and performance, and also points out the shortcomings of this study and follow-up research area. |
