Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), established in 1967, has developed for half a century, becomes a typical sample for the Unions of developing countries, and gives an opportunity for us to look into the specific questions and situations encountered for developing countries to form a union. Hereby we will observe the differences between countries and through years for the ASEAN to absorb the FDI, introduce the Coefficient of Variation and performance index to analyze the FDI in ASEAN, and guide our country's FDI in ASEAN.The difference of FDI in ASEAN bears regional and time characters, countries of different types and level of development have different character. The technology-intensive countries absorb FDI into the hi-tech area, Natural Resource-intensive countries absorb FDI into the resource area, meanwhile countries of the same period of time have different economic trend, due to different economic character. It is helpful to provide policy proposals for ASEAN if we understand this.FDI varies according to countries. For different types of countries in ASEAN, the FDI focus of China differs. To maintain the national interest in FDI, our country has to make use of the comparative advantage of the country, and avoid the comparative disadvantage.
