China has undergone great changes after the Opium War and has sunk into a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society gradually. With one hundred years, Chinese people were seeking a way out continuously, pursuing the modernization road which suited China's development. After the Xinhai revolution, Chinese national capitalism reached its golden age, and also the pace of modernization began to be sped up.During the ruling period of Beiyang government, some newly financial organizations instead of the old ones had been on the upgrade under the stimulation of foreign markets. Afterwards, these organizations began to be established such as banks, exchanges, stock markets and insurance companies. Especially the banks set by Chinese which regarded as main part of financial markets had been developed rapidly during that period. Such kind of banks had already showed the characteristics of modernization in the aspects of creative activities, management of profession, and construction of law rules and so on, and the banks were closely related to national capitalist enterprises. All these factors illustrated above promoted the development of industrialization in China's early years. However, apart from these improvements, China's finance was also influenced by domestic and foreign environment which to some extent obstructed the course from modernization. This thesis further investigates the features of modernization showed by the development of China banks and analyzes the obstructive factors towards Chinese finance markets under special circumstance. To sum up, this paper tries to get a general understanding and objective evaluation about the development of Chinese financial modernization so that can offer some suggestions to the construction of socialism in modern times.
