In recent years, with global economic slowdown trade protectionism is on the rise again and non-tariff barriers emerge in endlessly. As one of non-tariff barriers, anti-dumping has been popular with developed economies and many developing countries in the last decades. As a necessary supplement to anti-dumping measure, anti-absorption should deserve much more attention. In this thesis an explanation of absorption from economic point of view will be given to illuminate the pricing strategy of an exporter before and after the imposition of anti-dumping measures and to examine gain and loss for the parties concerned in absorption. Absorption refers to. after the imposition of anti-dumping measures, a foreign producer or exporter may bear the anti-dumping duties that the importer ought to pay through some agreement with the importer, make the anti-dumping measures disabled, and thus continue dumping in importing country. Absorption is regarded as re-dumping, and an international vertical collusion between an exporter and its importer. At the same time, with case study, a detail analysis of European anti-absorption law and the anti-absorption procedure will be made, thus recommendations for how to cope with EU anti-absorption will be made to firms in China when or if they confront with anti-absorption.Whether absorption is a long-term or short-term behavior, whatever, it will be in existence in a considerable time. Thus much more attention should be paid to this problem in the future. For there are no anti-absorption or absorption regulations in our anti-dumping law, it is very necessary to complement our anti-dumping law: if necessary we can use the European anti-absorption law for reference.
