The volume of trade between China and America keeps on developing with the frequent exchange activities on politics and economy since the two countries established diplomatic relations. Meanwhile, the trade imbalance and its negative effects are increasingly outstanding. Beginning from the 1990's, rapid escalation of Sino-American trade imbalance, along with uninterrupted increase of China foreign reserve to record levels, contributes to increasing trade tension between China and America, and RMB currency is now facing an unprecedented pressure to appreciate from the government of America. Consequently, it is necessary for us to do some research on it as a serious and realistic problem.The reasons of Sino-American trade imbalance are various and extremely complex. This thesis attempts to inspect the evolution process of international division of labor from a fresh new angle, and discovers that Sino-American trade imbalance is a kind of international economy phenomenon which appears along with the contemporary international division of labor to deepen to intra-product specialization, and Sino-American trade imbalance is a part of the world economics imbalance. In other words, Sino-American trade imbalance is inevitable, but not sustainable, also it cannot be eliminated immediately, and we need a quite long process to eliminate it.This essay is divided into three chapters. Chapter One introduces the current situation of trade and trade imbalance between China and America. Chapter Two is the keystone of this essay, mainly carries on the analysis to the origin of Sino-American trade imbalance. First, it carries on the reorganization to the existing viewpoint to research on origin of Sino-American trade imbalance. Then, embark from the international division of labor evolution, introduces the production and development of the new characteristic- intra-product specialization- in the contemporary international division of labor. Finally, analyzes the relationship between intra-product specialization and Sino-American trade imbalance. And discovers that Sino-American trade imbalance is a kind of international economy phenomenon which appears along with the contemporary international division of labor to deepen to intra-product specialization, and Sino-American trade imbalance is a part of the world economics imbalance. Chapter Three proposes the basic attitudes and the Countermeasures to Sino-American trade imbalance. First make certain that the Sino-American trade imbalance is inevitable, but not sustainable, also cannot be eliminated immediately. Then propose some reasonable Countermeasures.The research result has shown that, the reasons of Sino-American trade imbalance are complex and diverse. The deepening of international division of labor and development of intra-product specialization is one of the basic reasons of Sino-American trade imbalance. Sino-American trade imbalance has the inevitability. But it is not sustainable. It is the important part of the world economics. And we need various endeavors and a quite long process to eliminate it. This thesis adopts a lot of latest and useful data and information from foreign websites. However, for disadvantages of the author's knowledge and research ability, this thesis has certainly deficiency and error, for example, analysis to the imbalance of US national economy is not in-depth.
