Energy is the most important material for the production and living in modern mankind society, it has produced consanguineous relations between energy and economic development or national security among many countries. Energy security has deeply touches the progress of international politics today. Asymmetric distributing of energy, rapid rising of demand and political infiltration may be the main causes to energy security problem. Whether it can create chance of cooperation during the course of competition around the energy security, self-determination model of energy game provided a theory platform for energy cooperation between China and the U.S.China and the U. S., as the main energy consumption country, actually have formed competition relations in the field of energy. On the one hand, china needs enough energy to support rapid economic development. On the other hand, the U.S. worries about its energy interest being damaged by china' s energy requirement. Also the U.S. is afraid of being challenged by china' s rising. In fact, the abundance global energy reserve, relative balance of energy supply, china and the U. S. need develop energy cooperation together to maintain stability in the world energy market, cooperation is propitious to the long-term strategy of China and the U. S. So, cooperation is a wise choice during the energy competition and cooperation in china and the U.S.From the view of cooperation, china needs to attach most importance to carry out the strategy of international energy cooperation, even when it can afford energy supply itself. It' s the key for China to insure its energy security and to achieve healthy development of Chinese economy and society.
