Intrapreneurship has got more and more attention from 1980s because research in this field was not only of great theoretical value, but also of practical significance. On the individual level, research on intrapreneur who playing leading role in business intrapreneurial activity deserve to be pay much attention to. These not only depend on the role of intrapreneur, but also improve our understanding on the characteristics of senior manager affecting corporate entrepreneurship and advance business performance. However, most of previous studies focused on the organizational level of performance, not on intrapreneurship individual, while not combining intrapreneurship research and psychological contract research. In domestic intrapreneurship research field, qualitative research is more than empirical study. Through exploring literature, advancing model and hypothesis, interviewing, establishing scale, analyzing data, and verifying hypothesis, this research will analyze empirically the relationship among competence of intrapreneur, psychological contract, and performance within oriental cultural backgrounds.In this research, a total of 150 questionnaires were distributed to state-owned enterprise, private enterprise, Hong Kong-funded or Taiwan-funded enterprise in east China, and 103 valid ones of 117 ones were retrieved. The conclusion indicated that: (1) Significantly positive correlation was found between management competence, executing-strategy competence, human relation competence, innovating competence of intrapreneur and task performance while no significant correlation was found between learning competence and finding-opportunity competence of intrapreneur and task performance. (2) Significantly positive correlation was found between innovating competence, learning competence of intrapreneur and contextual performance while no significant correlation was found between management competence, executing-strategy competence, human relation competence, and finding-opportunity competence of intrapreneur and contextual performance. (3) In those factors affecting on task performance, the importance order is management competence, executing-strategy competence, innovating competence and human relation competence. (4) Considering on affecting performance, the competence of intrapreneur consists of management competence, executing-strategy competence, human relation competence, learning competence and innovating competence. (5) Significantly positive correlation was found between balanced psychological contract of intrapreneur and contextual performance while no significant correlation was found between balanced psychological contract of intrapreneur and task performance, at the same time, psychological contract of intrapreneur moderate the relationship between innovating competence and learning competence of intrapreneur, contextual performance.The contribution of this research are: (1) It focuses on the organizational and team level of performance to the individual, combines intrapreneurship research and psychological contract research, and broadens studying view of intrapreneurial individual. (2) Through empirically analyzing, it proves the relationship between different dimension of intrapreneur competence and different dimension of performance, establishes the competence of intrapreneur model, and provides the theory basis improving competence of intrapreneur pertinently in business practice. (3) Through empirically analyzing, it proves the relationship between different dimension of intrapreneur competence and balanced psychological contract of intrapreneur, and provides an effective path improving intrapeneurial performance in business practice. (4) It researches on intrapreneur within oriental cultural backgrounds, and fills the gaps of empirical study in domestic intrapreneurship research and oriental management research.
