Driven by economy globalization and information technology revolution, the production mode of the world manufacturing industry has greatly changed. Advanced manufacturing industry has developed as a result. Based on traditional manufacturing industry, advanced manufacturing industry adopts advanced manufacturing technology and mode, automation, flexibility, infomationization and intellectualization realized. Developed countries have made many plans to promote transformation from traditional manufacturing industry to advanced manufacturing industry. However, the efficiency of advanced manufacturing industry is lower in our country, so it is very significant to study on how to reduce manufacturing costs to enhance efficiency under advanced manufacturing environment.By understanding the meaning of advanced manufacturing industry and several typical advanced manufacturing industries, the characteristics of production line in advanced manufacturing industry are discussed. Based on this, this paper then analyzes the change of manufacturing costs, and further studies on several manufacturing costs and their causes, which are closely relevant to advanced manufacture equipment, including line down cost, WIP inventory cost, equipment adjusting cost and quality out-of-control cost. The contradiction between WIP inventory cost and equipment adjusting cost are illustrated.By analyzing the causes of AME production capacity loss, it is illustrated that it's critical to reduce manufacturing costs by enhancing production capacity utilization, so effective measures are then illustrated to reduce costs mentioned from the perspective of production capability utilization. As to line down cost, different maintenance modes are discussed for different phases, based on the breakdown characteristics and rules of AME. Furthermore, for facultative breakdown period, two variant models and numerical examples are given and illustrated based on the basic delay-time maintenance model. As to WIP inventory cost, the pull strategy based on inventory ration is introduced, and the method to determine and revise inventory ration is further discussed to reduce line-down. As to equipment adjusting cost, on the premise of ensuring continuous production, several practical suggestions are proposed. During the course of analysis, production practice of B Steel Corporation is used to further explain and demonstrate research conclusions above.
