The 21st century is a century of quality. In the new century, the three main powers driving organizations forward are: the global market of winning with quality, core technology with independent intellectual property and excellent business management mode. Quality is one of the key factors for enterprises to stand undefeated and increase their integrated competitiveness in the increasingly fierce market competition. Japanese well-known quality engineering expert, Dr. Genichi Taguchi pointed out that product quality results first from design and then from manufacturing and testing and quality management should be traced back to the source and course management. In the 1970s, Dr. Genichi Taguchi developed the Robust Design technology (internationally known as Taguchi Methods). New products and techniques developed with such technology are of steady and reliable quality and relatively strong anti-interference capacity. This pay has systematically discussed on the basic concept, methodology, basic procedure and major tools of Taguchi Robust Design and optimized the design of such two processes as cleaning & texturing and sintering with Taguchi Methods on the basis of the production process for single-silicon solar cells by a solar cell factory in Jiangsu. With SNR as the index, the experimental program has been designed respectively by means of the orthogonal array L9 (34) and orthogonal array L8 (27) so as to optimize the technical parameters. Upon completion of only 17 experiments, the optimal technical parameters have been selected, which has improved the cleaning & texturing quality and sintering quality and eventually increased the turnover rate of single-silicon solar cells for the anticipate purpose.
