With its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001, China has entered to a new stage in foreign trade. Its total volume of imports and exports kept growing, ranking the third in the world till 2004. Foreign trade has been an important component of Chinese market that allows no negligence, which has an immediate impact on economic development. The evolving trend of economic globalization encourages all countries in the world attach importance to the foreign trade, so we will progress in an environment where chances and challenges coexist.Meanwhile many countries impose trade barrier to protect their own interests. I would say that intangible asset is definitely an important weapon, a significant tool in nowadays to lift trade barrier and also a core competency of a corporation. But things are looking blue for China. The current situation is that the scale of intangible assets is too small, lacking competitive power, which is an obstacle to get a dominate position in international market. Therefore, a vital problem for export enterprise is how to sharpen competitive edge in international market through innovation and development of intangible assets.This paper tries to explain why china's foreign trade is large in scale but still inferior to strong trading nations, studying contribution of intangible assets to export enterprise. Meanwhile, this paper illustrates the practical significance of intangible assets to export corporation and trade friction, taking YOUNGOR GROUP CO., LTD for instance.Finally, a solution is proposed to construction of intangible assets.
