The concept of knowledge-based economy was put forward by OECD in 1996. It stirred up the interest of study on it. Since 2002, Robert Huggins Associates has published world knowledge competitiveness index, benchmarking the global's high performing regions. As a factor of production, knowledge plays an increasing significant role in industrial restructuring, upgrading and economic growth. Knowledge will replace the traditional factors of production - capital, labor and land and become the most important resources. In some developed countries, knowledge-based economy has begun to replace the industrial economy and become the dominant economy. In our country, despite the industrial economy is still the dominant form of economic, knowledge-based economy has emerged.The purpose of this paper is to explore the effect of knowledge on China's manufacture industries. So, from the aspect of knowledge input and knowledge output, this article establishs an index system to evaluate the knowledge intensity of manufacture industries. This paper selects China's leading manufacturers - Guangdong Province for the analysis object, and analyse its 30 manufacture industries empirically. On the basis of it, it reveals the problems of Guangdong Province's manufacture industries in the context of knowledge-based economy. Finally, it describs the methods of improving the degree of knowledge intensity.
