Gender Roles Of Women Entrepreneurs, Leadership Style And Subjective Leadership Effectiveness Study

With the rapid development in the whole society and business area, female is playing a more and more important role which was dominated by male before. Different from their opposite partner, woman has a management style of their own to manager the employee and lead the firm to success-this is where this study started. However, limited by their role in society as a women, female entrepreneurs have been facing dilemma between work and family, to be a good wife or a good boss. We have no choice but to ask:is feminization a barrier on their way to be a entrepreneur? How their leadership style is impacted by their gender, and further to impact leadership effectiveness?In this thesis, based on a short form of Bem Sex-role Inventory, Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire, Organization Commitment Questionnaire, and Job Satisfaction Questionnaire,300 employees were examined who has been working for a female entrepreneur. Furthermore,based data collected, analysis was made to see how they are cor-related between each of the factors.From the research, several interesting conclusion was found:Bi-gender role takes majority of female entrepreneurs,which turns to be an appropriate model; related to this gender role, high-consideration and high rule oriented takes most of the leadership style, and this is different from most research tells; the degree of consideration and rule oriented is correlated; leadership efficiency differs between each leadership style group.There is something more should have been done. Limited by my location and number of my contacts, most of the research was done to those in Jiangsu, zhejiang province, and Shanghai, and the total number collected was only 300. Further more, there is a question mark on whether the fourth questionnaire can be adopted in China.This research is milestone of my study as a master, and I will work towards a higher level in my next step of study.
