Chiang Ching-kuo In Taiwan During The Economic Policy Research

After the second World War, the East Asian countries, represented by "four Asia Tigers" emerges rapidly, which were called economic miracle. Taiwan province of China is the example among them, and the "Chiang Ching-kuo period" is even more special in this period, the economic policy did not only lead to economic development, but also made the transformation of economic success of Taiwan. We can interpret Taiwan's economic restructuring reasons after summarizing the gains and losses of economic policy in this period, which could assist the economic development in China mainland for reference.The first part of this paper reviews the previous jurisdiction over Taiwan before Qing dynasty and the governance by Qing dynasty, Japan's promoting the modernization of Taiwan objectively in "the Japanese colonial period". After 1949, Taiwan economy witnessed three stages, featuring stability, beginning, developing; and the choices of economic policies by Taiwan administration. The second part analyzes with emphasis the authorities'policies to cope with economic crisis during 1972-1980, including "Ten Major Construction Projects" and "12 Economic Construction" and "Six Years Plan". Taiwan implements a series of economic transformation policies in 1981-1989, including the strategy of developing high-tech industry, establishing HsinChu Sci-tech Industrious Zone, along with "Business liberalization, Economic internationalization, and Institutionalized management". Meanwhile, the Author analyzes Taiwan's economic policy within this period. The third part is a summary and evaluation of the economic policies formulated in the Chiang Ching-kuo age, and this provides enlightening reference for the main land's economic development.
