Previous studies have shown that social supports had affected individual self-rated health significantly. And good social support may be more beneficial to self-rated health. On the basis of existing research, this study attempts to describe and explore the relationship between social supports and self-rated health. Furthermore, this paper also focus on whether social supports still have significant effects on self-rated health after controlling of the socio-economic status and demographic characteristics. This study is interview based and comprises data on CGSS 2006 database. After data screening,2587 samples were used to analyze. The main statistical method is logistic regression analysis. The results reveal that social supports, especially emotional supports from parents, have significant impact on individual self-rated health. And this effects still exists after controlling of the socio-economic status and demographic characteristics. At the same time, on the different levels of income, education and age, different types of social supports will influence self-rated health. Overall, the results partially support the hypotheses proposed in this study.
