Clinical and Experimental Study on Treatment ofChronic Pyogenic Osteomyelitis with GuJu mixtureSpeciality:Bone and Joint Injury, Osteotraumatology of TCMAuthor:Yang JiushanTutor:Professor Vu GuanghuaAbstractUnder the guidance of Traditional Chinese Medicine theories, we made the study, which is a new attempt of research about the therapy of Chronic Pyogenic Osteomyelitis (CPO) using medicinal herbs. The paper consists of two parts: Clinical Observation and Experimental Study. Altogether 32 patients were observed in the former. Being treated with GuJu mixture, 18 of them were cured, the cure rate was 56.3 %,and the total effective rate was 96.9%; In the experiment, we divided the rabbit models of CPO into three groups, one gave GuJu mixture, one gave gentamicin, and nothing was given to the other group. The results showed more formation of the new bone and blood capillaries in GuJu mixture group. Analyzing the mechanism of medicinal herbs for external application, we think it due to its bacteriostasis, ameliorating the microcirculation and improving the immunity of the osteomyelitis part. In addition, As a part of the study, this paper made theoretical generalization of the pathogeny, pathogenesis and BianZheng character of CPO. At the last part of the article, CPO treating conditions internal and overseas of the past two decades were also elaborated.
