| This study includes two parts: documentary study about cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type and research on its treatment by my tutor's manipulation and cervical traction. The documentary study of cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type has summed up the research in recent years in relevant documents. It includes mechanism of producing, diagnoses and treatment about cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type. It is a common disease in orthopedics. Vast numbers of scholars of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine have done a lot of researches in recent years and gained a lot of scientific achievements. The purpose of this paper is to get a deeper understanding and to find more effective methods in treatment, especially in traditional Chinese medicine domain. In the part of clinical research, Objective: To probe the curative effect and mechanism of my tutor's manipulation to cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type. Methods: 60 cases of cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type were treated and observed from June 2001 to February 2002. They were randomly divided into two groups: observation group of 30 cases and control group of 30 cases. The observation group of 30 cases was treated with head manipulation, neck manipulation and cervical traction and curative effects were observed and compared with control group of 30 cases treated with only cervical traction. To emphasize head manipulation is important. All of two groups of 60 cases were treated only one session. The symptoms and signs and TCD were observed and compared after treating. Curative effects were evaluated with the standard we set. Results: The results showed a higher cure rate of 20% and a total effective rate of 90% in observation group in comparison with a total effective rate with 43% in control group. Conclusion: Through the analysis of the treating results, we probed the mechanism of treating cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type with manipulation and traction. It is proved that the manipulation can release muscular spasticity and manipulation on head can improve blood circulation and clinical symptoms. The manipulation and traction is effective in treating cervical spondylosis of the vertebral artery type.Lastly, I summed up professor Ding jianzhong, my tutor's rich experience and academic viewpoints in orthopedics in more than twenty years. |
