As a traditional Chinese medicine, Scutellaria barbata D. Don plays an important role in detumescence, allay fever, detoxifcation, anti^umor and so on. Epecially, antitumor function is emphasised. In clinic, usually uses Scutellaria barbata D. Don, mixed some other traditional Chinese medicine, to treat liver cancer, stomach cancer, rectum cancer, lung cancer, woman tumour and so on. There is affluent in Scutellaria barbata D. Don in our country. Some systemic was search carried out to find out the pivotal chemical components, which having antitumor function, and some important conclutions were obtained in this paper..Firstly, the production extracted by ethanol from Scutellaria barbata D. Don is respectively separated by column separation method and the fractions are carried through activity assay. Results show that the active substance is mainly focus on the parts washed by the mixed liquid of petroleum ether and acetone with the mixed ration 9 to 1. The other parts of this paper are based on this result. The active ingredients were separated by Silicon Column and TLC and examined by GC-MS. Some steroids are discovered from Scutellaria barbata D. Don firstly. The pharmic ruction principle shows the activity to antitumor is the result of steroids. Secondly, the technology of SFE-COa is used to extract the components of Scutellaria barbata D. Don and put forward the optical extraction condition. Through the analysis to trace elements in Scutellaria barbata D. Don, the paper is trying to discuss the relation between the pharmic function principle and its trace elements.
