Objective: To study the treatment mechanism of Radix Hedysari on Respiratory Distress Syndrome and provide a theoretical basis for its therapy the experiment induce Respiratory Distress Syndrome by injection of Oleica acid. Observing index is analysed blood-air and acid - base, measured contents of pulmonary surfactant(PS) and researched pathologic features, changes of blood - air barrier and structure of osmiophilic multilamellar body in type II alveolar cells. Methods: Wistar rats were divided into three groups: RDS group .HE group and NS group. With blood-gas analysis instrument measured Pa02 02Sat PaCO 02Cont C02Tot and pH, BE, BB SB. The weight of lung and contents of pulmonary surfactant in BALF and lung cells were tested. With microscope and electronic microscope pathologic features. blood-air barrier and structure of Osmiophilic multilamellar body. Results: Pa02 02Sat in rats of HE group were higher than those in rats of RDS group (P<0. 01), PaC02 C02Tot, were lower than those in rats of RDS group(P<0. 05). After treatment of Radix Hedysari lung index dropped (P<0. 01); Hislologic examination showed that pulmonary edema, hyperemia and pneumonrrhagia reduced; Necrosis of pulmonary hislogy and thrombus decreased of dismissed. Contents of PS were in creased in rats of HE group. Inflamatory cell infiltration in extracellular matrix reduced. The structure of type I, IIalveolar cells and pulmonary alveolar capillary endothelial were maintained normal. Conclusion: The experimental results demonstracted that Radix Hedysar; treated RDS rats increasing Pa02 02Sat reducing PaC02and redress acid-base equilibrium disturbances, improving hypoxia state, decreasing lung index reducing pathologic features, increasing contents of PS, reducing P(A-a)D02, manintaining the assimilating function of the lung. protecting type I alveolar and capillary, endothelial cells, blood-air barrier was normal. ㏄rotectiong type II alveolar cell and promoting it to release PS, and steadying Osmiophilic multilamellar body.
