Objective :To investigate the effect of anticancinogenic Chinese medicinal herbs on tumor angiogenesis, and screen tumor angiogenesis inhibitor. Then studying mechanism of its inhibiting angiogenesis. Methods:We selected fifth anticancinogenic Chinese medicinal herbs. To screen tumor angiogenesis inhibitor,we treated mice, in which mouse S180 sarcoma cells had been inplanted in subcutaneous oxter-region, with these herbs. The tumor inhibitory rate and the vascular density were tested in animal tumor model with experimental treatment by immunistological methods. According to the results,we screened tumor angiogenesis inhibitor. We found: three herbs (Oxymatrine, curcuma phaeocaulis valeton, coix lacryma-jobi) had effect of inhibiting angiogenesis on S180 sarcoma ,and then the expression of VEGF and bFGF of S180 sarcoma were measured by immuni s tological methods . Results:When the high dose was used , the tumor inhibitory rate of the three herbs groups(Oxymatrine, curcuma phaeocaulis valeton, coix lacryma-jobi) were 31.36%, 46.68% and 46.21%; the vascular density of S180 sarcoma were lower than the control group; and the expression of VEGF and bFGF were down-regulated. Conelus ions:The three drugs have inhibitory effect on S180 sarcoma andstrong inhibitory effects on angiogenesis. Its mechanism may be assiociated with the down-regulating of VEGF and bFGF express ion.
