| The article herein provides a preliminary research about acupuncture treatment on urine retention symptom accounted in the ancient Chinese medical document. It summarises the characteristics of the treatment throughout the Chinese medical history as well as in the modern China. In the last 20 years, acupuncture treatment has also been applied on, as well as to prevent post-operation urine retention symptom due to anorectal disease .The research reveals that acupuncture treatment on the foregoing post-op symptom is indeed effective, and it involves multiple methods. There is, however little coverage on the comparisons among the various methods and the preventive aspects of these methods during different stages of the symptom. The research thus conducts a clinical comparison test on different methodologies involved in the treatment, in term of both preventive & treatment aspects. The subject methodologies are Body Acupuncture, Ear-Acupoint-Compression.,and Bodyr Acupuncture/Ear-Acupoint-Comp-ression. 2 sets of test are conducted. First, by applying the respective 3 methods at all stages of the surgery (before, during and after). Second, with the same 3 treatments applied only after surgery. Comparison is made between the results. Comparison is based on the following data and so on:a. Occurrence rate of the symptom after surgery,b. The immediate time of urination after operation and after acupuncturec. The condition of urinationd. The rate of urinatione. The effect after 6 hour of acupuncture treatmentComparison research is conducted on anorectal surgery patients in the following manner. It aims to conclude a best methodology and the right time of application, thus achieve the objective of preventive treatment.Research Conclusion: Result indicates that all the foregoing three methodologies show positive effect on both prevention & treatment of the symptom. With respect to prevention, both Ear-Acupoint-Compression and Body Acupuncture/ Ear-Acupoint-Compressionshow significant positive results. From the comfort & economy point of view, Ear-Acupoint-Compressionis the best choice in prevention of the symptom. It is more effective to apply acupuncture prior, during and after the surgery instead of just after the surgery. It proves that the treatments help to ease tenseness of the patient as well as alleviate pains during all three stages of surgery. It is therefore concluded that the best acupuncture scheme to be adopted to prevent post-op urine retention symptom is to apply Ear-Acupoint-Compressionon patient before, during and after the surgery. In term of treatment, Body Acupuncture/ Ear-Acupoint-Compression is the most effective methodology as it shortens the time of urination to occur after acupuncture treatment, improves patient urination condition and/thus alleviates pain brought to the patient. |
