Human Herpes Virus 8 (hhv-8) Gene Expression And Epidemiological Study

OBJECTIVE To detect Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) IgG antibodies in healthy blood donors from Jinan region; To estimate the seroprevalence of HHV-8 infection among blood donors of Jinan region.MRTHORS 230 serum were tested for Jinan IgG antibody by Enzyme-linked immunosobent assay ( ELISA) and HHV-8 0RF65 peptides were used as antigen in ELISA.RESULTS(1) HHV-8 IgG antibody positive rate in blood donors from Jinan region was 5.65% (13/230) .It showed that there are a certain rate of HHV-8 infection in healthy blood donors of Jinan and it is necessary to screen blood donors for HHV-8.(2) Prevalence of antibodies to HHV-8 by sex classHHV-8 IgG antibody positive rate in male blood donors was 6.67% (8/120) and 4. 55% (5/110) in female blood donors. There is no difference in different sex (P>0.05) .(3) Prevalence of antibodies to HHV-8 by age classThere is no difference in different ages (P>0.05) .There is a trend of increase with the blood donors' increasing age.CONCLUSION There are a certain rate of HHV-8 infection in healthy blood donors of Shandong. It is necessary to screen blood donors for HHV-8.
