ObjectiveTo evaluate the expression of HDGF and its role in angiogenesis assessed by vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and microvessel density(MVD), as well as in proliferation and apoptosis ,and its implication on survival in patients who undergone radical resection for stage I non-small cell lung cancer.MethodsOne hundred and eighteen patients undergoing complete surgical resection of pathological stage I non-small cell lung cancer from 1994-2002 were retrospectively reviewed. The expression of HDGF. VEGF. MVD marked by CD34 and PI marked by Ki67 were detected by immunohistochemical assay , and AI was detected by TUNEL assay. With 30 benign pulmonary disease tissues or 30 normal lung tissues as control.ResultsThe HDGF expression was seen in all patients, and markly higher than that in normal lung issues. Expresson of HDGF was closely related to histological classification, and the expression in squamous cancers was much stronger than that in adenocarcinoma (p=0.001) .But not to sex, age, smoke, T-stage and cell differentiation of patients with stage I...
