OBJECTIVE To evaluate the protective effect of pulmonary perfusion with LPD solution contained ambroxol on lung function during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its mechanism.METHODS: Twenty patients with mitral valve replacement in this prospective study were divided randomly into the protective group (n = 10, LPD solution contaied Ambroxol) and the control group (n = 10, LPD solution). The same anesthesia method, equipment and management of ardiopulmonary bypass were used, the procedure of mitral valve replacement was similar between the groups. 10-12° C solutions were perfuse (20ml/kg/min) by the main pulmonary artery during the ascending aorta clamped. A series of arterial blood samples were analyzed at five different time points: 0 hours, 1 hours, 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, in the intensive care unit (ICU). Pulmonary function indexes were calculated. Blood samples were collected for measuring concentrations of malondialdehyde(MDA) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) at four different time points: preoperation, 0 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, in the ICU. All patiens blood cell counts was obtained as well. Time of CPB, aortic cross-clamp time, mechanical ventilation time and ICU monitoring time, in-hospital time after operation were recorded.
