Compound Kanggan spray is a new compound preparation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which consists of Herba baicalin, Radix Lithospermi Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Rhizoma Belamcanlae, Indigo Naturalis, Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii, Herba Agrimoniae, Herba Eupatorii and Mentholum . It has the function of clearing away heat and toxic material ,removing dampness by means of aromatics and strengthening the body resistance and protecting Ying-qi and Wei-qi in the early stage of the disease..Therefore It can be used to cure such symptom as nasal obstruction , vasomotor rhinitis , sneeze , sorethroat and pharyngitis , dizziness and physical diseomfort because of the upper respiratory tract infection.With the guidance of the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Compound Kanggan spray was studied on pre-clinical pharmacy with modern pharmaceutical technology. For the demand of clinic, the form of drug was chosen as spray. On the basis of the function and treatment as well as the characters of the component of the herbs, the optimum extract conditions about alcohol-extract and water- extract-were selected by using orthogonal design which use quite a few assessing norms to evaluate them comprehensively. Meanwhile,the extract of volatile oil has been completed. Then,this paper studied the purification methods and formulation design. After that the quality standard of the Compound Kanggan spray was finished. Determine the content of baicalin in Compound Kanggan spray by RP-HPLC. Use TLC to identify Herba baicalin, Radix Lithospermi ,Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and Mentholum. Then the preliminary stability was fulfilled. That research indicates that the technique of preparation was reasonable and practical, the standard was controllable and the quality of the sample was steady as well.
