Besides, the paper also serves to evaluate the effectiveness of message therapy in alleviating lateral epicondylitis. Recent years, there have been a plethora of scientific researches and new developments in message therapy that prove to be valuable in treating lateral epicondylitis. As observed from numerous epidemiological and clinical trials, it is evident that message therapy is comparatively easy, practical, safe and effective to perform. More importantly, this method does not yield any undesirable side-effects.Objective:To evaluate if massage therapy is competent of alleviating lateral epicondylitis. To analyze the theoretical aspects of massage therapy on lateral epicondylitis. To observe the effectiveness and safety of utilizing massage therapy on lateral epicondylitis in clinical trials. To develop an ideal solution for the treatment of lateral epicondylitis via message therapy that is applicable for international use.A systematic review of 60 clinical trials was carried out in which 30 Singaporean patients were randomly assigned to the control and treatment group respectively. Patients from the treatment group had to undergo a series of massage therapy during the medical assessment. On the contrary, patients from the control group merely employed traditional Chinese medical oil ("gong yi zhuang hong hua you") in their treatments. All the patients were qualified participants under the diagnostic standard of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act. Method:The clinical trials serve to assess the efficacy of massage therapy on lateral epicondylitis. The standards were based on"Chinese medicine disease diagnostic efficacy standard permit"(section 6) publicized in the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM). The treatment utilized theory behind the traditional meridian system and the main meridian points include"shou shan li","qu chi","shou wu li","xiao hai","chi zhe","shao hai","ji chuan"etc. The treatment was performed once every consecutive day and 10 treatments constitute 1 treatment course. Subsequently, the efficiency of this treatment was compared against the control group that applied traditional Chinese medical oil. |
