| Zhang Zhongjing proposed two important principles in Jinkui Yaolve. One reads,"The wise doctors treat disease before it arises."The other reads,"If Yuanzhen in five zang organs circulates well, the body will keep fit."Almost all the researchers after Zhang Zhongjing pay attention to those two principles. But they didn't explain the two sentences clearly, and few people connect them with each other. In this text, paraphrase of the phrase"the circulation of Yuanzhen in five zang organs"and systematic collection on the content of"Disease prevention theory"in Jinkui Yaolve were both made. We drew a conclusion that"the circulation of Yuanzhen in five zang organs"is the guiding principle of"Disease prevention theory".Yuanzhen in five zang organs refers to healthy qi, which has the congenital property and is circulating around the body. It will run its course naturally; on the other hand, it can be strengthened by regulating a normal daily life and diet, or taking Chinese herbal medicine after one's birth. The word"circulation"has two meanings. One is the correlation between man and nature and the other is the dependence relationship among five zang organs. Therefore, the word"the circulation of Yuanzhen in five zang organs"also means the correlation between the whole body and universe as well as the dependence relationship among the five systems of an organism.Disease prevention theory in Jinkui Yaolve includes preventing possible disease and avoiding the transmission of the pathogenic fact. Take steps to preserve one's health before the disease arises and take measures to protect the non-affected zang organs before the pathogenic factors transmit. The disease prevention theory written in Jinkui Yaolve embodies two aspects. First of all, man can prevent disease only when he understands the patterns and features of natural changes, and keeps his body coordinate and unified with the outside environment. Next, regard the five large systems as a whole and take account of gastrosplenic qi which plays an important role in connecting the five zang organs."The circulation of Yuanzhen in five zang organs"admits that the innate part qi depends on the acquired nutrition and the preventive steps have great influence on one's health. Under the direction of"the circulation of Yuanzhen in five zang organs", the preventive steps should be taken according to the variation of the four seasons and the five elements in the nature. Be active when yang in nature is relatively exuberant, while be calm when yin in nature is relatively exuberant. Make sure that the wane and wax of yin and yang in the body conforms to the nature. During the therapeutic process, besides protecting the non-affected zang organs before the pathogenic factors transmit, more attention should be taken to the correlation among the five zang organs and gastrosplenic qi should be thought much of. The importance of gastrosplenic qi lies in two aspects. On the one hand, the spleen governs transportation and transformation essential substances to five zang. On the other hand, the spleen and the stomach are situated in middle Jiao, they control the functional activities of qi, and thus gastrosplenic qi modulates the physiological or pathological activities of all internal organs. |
