With the development of analysis technique, the TCM Fingerprint technique has been the hottest field of TCM research, which is an effective method of discriminating TCM and quality control. With the wide developing and high using of TCM Fingerprint and TCM experiment, there has been a lot of data and experience from the advanced research. On the day of fastly developing modern analysis technique, Information Science and Computer Network Technology, Informationization of TCM Fingerprint datas can be realized. It's time to set up a database of TCM Fingerprint. The text expatiates on fingerprint of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the fields of definition, classification, research context, and based on the actuality of TCM, it figured out that the database of TCM Fingerprint should be built. The aim and meaning of building a database and the current status of the database research are expatiated. An integrated database of TCM Fingerprint is supposed to set up, which includes 7 types of TCM Fingerprint (HPLC, GC, HPCE, TLC, DNA, IR and XRD Fingerprint). The GAP Information database is also to be built to standardize the growth of TCM material, and support the quality guarantee of TCM.By means of demand analysis and investigation, the TCM Fingerprint DBS is founded based on Relational Model. The Database of TCM Fingerprint was designed by MS SQL Server 2000, the TCM Fingerprint database management system was achieved on the platform of Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2005, and The System was exploitered with VB.Net. ADO.NET is used to connect the database. There are 115 kinds of TCM Fingerprint and 10 kinds of TCM GAP Information saved in the database. The TCM system is run normally. More TCM FingerPrint will be save in the database.
