Object: To observe the pathological change and the expression of ICAM-1 on the choroid and RPE membrane in experimental hyperlipemia C57BL6 mice. Methods: Choosed male C57BL6 mice , after a week of normal forage, divided them randomly into 3 groups on the basis of weight: young group (3 months old),older age-group (8 months old) and model group (8 months old). Twelve mice of each group were killed in time and take the blood index test , all their eyeballs were cut off to make pathological sections and immunohistochemistry sections. Results: the consequences of the hyperlipemia group compared with the older age-group and young group are : (1) The blood lip and rheology index of the hyperlipemia group is much higher than others; (2) The MDA of the blood biochemistry index is up-regulated; (3) the RPE thickness of the model group is much thinner than others; (4) the choroid thickness of the model group is much thinner than other groups and blood capillary shrink generally; (5) the integral optical density of ICAM-1 in the model group expressed on choroid vascular endothelial cells up-regulated obviously too. Conclusion: Hyperlipemia can impair the choroid vascular endothelial cells of C57BL6 mice and cause the chronic inflammatory reaction on choriod and accordingly effect the Bruch membrane and RPE cells and the photoreceptor cells, at last result in pathological chang similar to ARMD.
