Puerariae Decoction is originated from the Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases written by Zhang Zhongjing in Han dynasty,consisting of puerarin,Ephedra,Rumulus Ginnamomi,ginger,licorice,peony,jujube.Its functions are the sweating,detoxification,and to stretch the muscle;The indications are affection of exotenous wind-cold,chills and fever,headache,rigid neck and back,body pain,anhidrotic,micro-abdominal pain,or dysentery and diarrhea,or vomiturition,orbreathe heavly,floating tight pulse.It is said in Treatise on Febrile Diseases:"tai yang diseases,the neck and backback stiffness, anhidrotic,aversion to wind,Puerariae Decoction can be used." the interpretation of the neck and backback stiffness is similarity in accordance with of modern medicine,and a lot of modern doctors achieved good effects to treat the patient with strong pain symptoms of neck disease with Puerariae Decoction.For good observation of its curative effects,we conducted all-round research to explain the reasons of its treatment of strong pain in the neck.This paper is divided into three parts,the first part is the literature review, the second part is the theoretical literature of Puerariae Decoction,the third part is the clinical literature of Puerariae Decoction.Part of literature review summarizes the use of Pueraria Decoction for all types of diseases in clinical research for the past few years,as well as various kinds of clinical research treatment of cervical spondylosis by Chinese medicine, to draw a conlusion that cervical spondylosis and other joint diseases by Puerariae Decoction are common in the treatment of all types of diseases in the literature,the number of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy and vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis is more than other else.The theoretical literature of Puerariae Decoction address the source of origin,composition,usage,function and range of indications.The clause of Puerariae Decoction in the Treatise on Febrile Diseases were focal point analyzed, which were introduced in detailed like Cheng Wuji,Xu Hong,Fang youzhi,Lee zhi,Ke qin,Wu qian,Zhang Yinan,Ke Yun-Bo,Wang Jinsan,Cao Ying-fu etc, different characteristics of their interpretations.Cheng Wuji explanations were reasonable and simple,the interpretations of wuqian were vivid,Ke Yunbo, WANG Jinsan explained the composition,the effectiveness was clear,Cao Ying Fu explained pathogenesis.
