L-Arahinose is a sweetener in low-energy,it can inhibit the activity of enzymes,as a natural enzymy inhibitor of sucrase, lessen breakdown of sucrose。limited its absorption in the gatrointestinal tract.L-Arabinose has been approved as a new food resources by Ministry of Heakh of P.R.China.The result will help to eliminate the rising of circulation blood glucose level after the sucrose challenge。the inhibiting the absorption of sugar can prevent hypertension and diabetes.Thom.,on biotech(Xiamen)PTE LTD extract the L-Arabinose from rice, corn stalks with biochemical methods. This paper includes two parts:review and experimental study.Review includes:"TCM research Overview of Dietary intervention in type 2 diabetes" and "Overview ofL-Arabinose"Study:Objective:The aim of this study is to examine the biological activity of L-Arabinose from the company and provide experimental basis to further the devdopment of functional foods..Methods:32 eight-week Zucker diabetic mice were randomly divided into 4 groups,A,B,C,D group,8 mice one group,D groups fed with high fat dkt.only as control group,A,B,group along with high fat dkt.oral with L-Arabinose,the dosage were 250 and 50mg/d respectivdy for 4 weeks. The body weight and the amount of food intake were monitored every 5 day and every 2 day, respectively。for 4 weeks, the fasting glucose, sucrose tolerance were examined. Results:The experimental result proved that the L-Arabinose decreased significantly sucrose absorption. The high dosage and middle dosage group, the L-Arabinose can decrease the weight increase。Conclusion:These results support the hypothesis that 1he L-Arabinosepreparation by Thomsonbiotech(Xiamen)PTE LTD proved to be highly effective in preventing a rise in conculating glucose after sucrose challenge. The body mass gain was less in the L-Arabinose treated group from 5th day of than that in the control group.
