Effects Of Dietary Fiber From Citrus Limonia Osbeck On Blood Glucose And Blood Lipid In Alloxan Induced Diabetic Rats

Dietary fiber, a good resource of dietary fibers, is the by-product of Lemon processing. But it hasn't been made good use of so far. The recent researches indicate that such chronic diseases as diabetes and arteriosclerosis etc. are concerned with the deficiency of dietary fibers in food. So it is very necessary to develop safe, functional food of high quality and dietary fibers. In this article, the effects of dietary fiber from Citrus Limonia Osbeck dietary fiber by fermentation of Trichoderma Viride on treating diabetes are examined. The study is of supply theories about developing safe food from Lemon residue which contains dietary fibers of high quantity.To randomly divide Kunming mice into contrast group and diabet model group, after alloxan inducing. Divide the latter group into model group (MC) and dietary fiber group —according to the dosage of the DF given, low dosage (group L), medium dosage (group M), high dosage (group H) and the normal control rats(group NC). After feeding fietary fiber 2 weeks, blood and tissue specimens were collected, and FBG, FINS, MOMA-IR, liver glycogen, GCK, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, FFA, SOD, GSH-Px,MDA were determined. The histology of liver and pancreas were observed. The results showed that: Compared with the normal mice, the level of blood glucose in normal mice was decreased appreciably (P>0.05); Compared with the model mice, the level of FBG, HOMA-IR, TG, FFA, MDA were markedly reduced (P<0.05), SOD activity of liver and the blood lipids (HDL-C) were increased (P<0.05), and liver glycogen, GCK activity in the liver were significantly increased appreciably (P>0.05).
