With aging of population and pathogenic microorganism variation and resistance of medicine get worse and worse, morbidity and mortality of elderly pneumonia are increasing yearly, elderly pneumonia has become a global problem of the medicine. So studying elder pneumonia on TCM syndromes, figure out its pathogenesis and features of TCM syndrome, is important to guide clinical treatment. Objective:According to methods and rules of clinical Epidemiology, we take clinical data from 120 cases of elderly pneumonia as evidence and use modern statistic software to discuss and explore the TCM syndromes features and distribution. It is scientific and conventional try of elderly pneumonia clinical research. Methods:Through scale model of 120 cases to collect clinical information, we use method of " differentiation of syndrome elements " to differentiate disease part, disease quality and elements of every case, then combine disease part with disease quality and elements together, analyze frequency of every syndrome type by statistic software to explore TCM syndrome features of elderly pneumonia. Results:Elderly pneumonia clinical symptoms have high frequency in cough, cough with white creamy phlegm, dispiritedness and powerless, dryness of mouth and pharynx, lack of Qi, gasp of breath, chest tightness, loss of appetite, fever, tinnitus and deafness and dry excrement. Some patients expresses blood stasis symptoms obviously. Disease parts are lung, kidney and spleen. The main disease quality elements are phlegm, heat, blood stasis, deficiency of Qi and deficiency of Yin. The most common syndrome types in order are lung deficiency both Qi and Yin syndrome type (16.7%), lung and kidney both deficiency of Qi syndrome type (10.3%), phlegm and heat stagnating the lung syndrome type (10%), lung and spleen both deficiency of Qi syndrome type (10%)Conclusion:(1)Most of patients of elderly pneumonia have deficiency of Qi, especially deficiency of Qi and Yin, it is essential of incidence.
