| Living in the age of hyper communication at the dawn of electronic portable devices, the linkage between people through the means of the World Wide Web has gone far beyond the computer screens and into the palms of the hands of everyday people throughout the whole entire world. With new information constantly updating into view at uncountable rates, keeping up with the pace of the speed of fiber optics has became the new norm for the youth and young adults today. With the fascination of the psychology behind the users of social site services, this paper is an explanation of my graduate project in a form that is based on the attempt in exploring new methods of expression interpreting the interactive relationships between the audiences and the format of my contemporary painting. The first part of my thesis starts with the reasoning behind the my selection of the topic, incorporated with the basic history of the internet, followed by the artistic development of possible psychological mindset termed, the "Two-Dimensional Subconscious," from the widespread of the animation and cartooning industries, which has been widely referred to by online users based on their attachment with the lifestyle inside the screen. The section then continues on with the indications of artistic influences relating to expression of cuteness, randomness, delicacy, and detail of the Japanese animation and manga styles, along with the character performances of American cartoons that will serve as the key elements in the creation of artistic style to my project. This part serves as an indication of style development, by merging the two artistic approaches together as a way of contemporary art.The paper then moves toward the second half by listing the symbolical meanings of the contents that would be incorporated within the project, and expressions indicating the difference between influence, and imitation within the cartooning industry. |
