On The Development Of Materials And Techniques Of Painting

As one of the oldest art form, painting has come through a continuous course of transformationand development in history. Among the various factors that have influenced painting, certain specific materials and technological instruments have been playing a very pivotal role. This thesis, by describing and analyzing some key characters and events, is trying to construct the process of the innovation and progress of painting in the western world, discuss its actual situation in contemporary social and cultural environment and the possibilities of painting in the future according to my own practice.
