Roald Dahl is a famous contemporary writer of children's literature in Britain, his fairy tale works won not only the world's children but also the adult readers'attention, which is known as " The Pied Piper of Hamelin". Being based on the reality and focusing on children's life, His literature not only has the abundant imagination, but also pays special attention to children's narrative skill. Therefore, his works inject new blood to the contemporary children's literature and become a milestone in children's literature writing. Based on the theory of narratology, together with the major content of his eight fairy tale work, this thesis illustrates the narrative skills in his works in terms of three perspectives which are the role played by the characters in the narration, set clasp solution buckle, and narrative space.The "Introduction" part briefly introduces Roald Dahl's children literature writing and his achievements, reviewes the domestic and abroad research literature on Roald Dahl fairy tale works, and based on this, illustrates the motivations and methods of this theis.The main body of this thesis is composed by three parts. The first chapter demonstrates the puzzle set of in the fairy tale, and the solution to the suspense puzzle. The roller-coaster plot set is thought to be the main narrative skill of Roald Dahl's fairy tale, and the solution to the puzzle is made according to his rich imagination. The puzzle set and the solution given go through Roald Dahl works and together drive the story forward.The second chapter, from the angle of the narrative space, through central Roald Dahl degree of fairy tale with narrative perspective narrative space, and the relationship between the plot structure analysis, further discusses the narrative role of the space played in Roald Dahl's fairy tale.The third chapter analyzed the "functional" characters and plot model. According to the related Greimas theory, the "functional" characters in the fairy tale are analyzed and compared.The meanings hidden in the text are found in the deep plot model. Moreover, this mode applied in different fairy tale is studied, which illustrates the abundance of Roald Dahl fairy tale's plot content indirectly.
