Sitting "confucius See I Resources And Production

This dissertation is to study the image of "Confucius meeting Laozi", which is one of the most common and representative subject matters in the paintings in Han dynasty. I am aiming to make clear the way in which the artists in Han dynasty dealt with such a historical theme in their paintings, the image resources they had, and the selections they made.My discussion is conducted in three chapters. The first chapter studies what kind of elements of this theme were selected, and where they were placed in architects such as tombs and ancestral shrines. The second chapter examines the relations between the story and the images of the characters, as well as their tradition and transformation. The third and last chapter illustrates the concrete image resources which made up the paintings.
