Border Area, And Mao Zedong Thought Propaganda (1942-1948)

The border region which lied on the edge of Shan Xi; Cha Ha'er and He Bei was the base area lead by the Communist Party of China during the Anti-Japanese War. It grown out of noting at the very beginning and then developed from a small scale to a large scale; from weak to strong and gradually set a good example as a base area to all. This border region played a vital role in the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation and made great contribution on the construction of economy and culture with a powerful leadership headed by general Nie Rongzhen and Peng Zhen at that time. But most importantly, it was better known for the successful publicity of Mao Zedong Thought. And that's what the thesis tries to find out.First, the thesis has stated the foundation of the border region lied on the edge of Shan Xi; Cha Ha'er and He Bei and also explained briefly on the publicity of Mao Zedong Thought there. The border region which centered on Wutai Mountain was established according to the order from the central committee of CPC and mainly lead by general Nie since the July 7th Event broke out. Although the name of the border region has been changed for several times during the establishment and development of the border region, the publicity of Mao Zedong Thought there never stopped until the border region of Shan Xi; Cha Ha'er and He Bei and that of Shan Xi; He Bei; Shan Dong and He Nan combined as the united administration committee in north China.Second, the thesis explores the theoretical publicity of Mao Zedong Thought at the border region. And that can be divided into three parts. Firstly, the Maoism was put forward by Deng Tuo who was a leading theorist at the border region at that time. And he did elaborate the Mao Zedong Thought from the perspective of ideological methodology; political science and military science. Secondly, the Mao Zedong Thought was further publicized by other leaders at the border region. General Nie Rongzhen, Hu Xikui and many other regional leaders there explained the vital guidance of Mao Zedong Thought and had it accepted by many gradually, which established the status of Mao Zedong Theory firmly in the CPC.Thirdly, the theorists at border region also contributed a lot on the publicity. They made great efforts on the popularization of Mao Zedong Thought and had many ordinary people understood it further. Third, the thesis then studies the publication of Mao's works. Firstly, a series of Mao's articles were published. For instance, On Protracted War and On New Democracy were well known for offering the guide of Anti-Japanese war and such articles were read by all the leaders and ordinary people by various means. Secondly, the first edition of Mao's Selected Works was also published. What's more, it was the first book on China's revolution in history and it helped people at the border region study the theory of war and the circumstances of China better. Finally, Mao's thoughts were profoundly publicized in the Jinchaji Daily(the offical newspaper at the border region). A lot of Mao's articles and some comments on Mao's works could be found in that newspaper and the Mao Zedong Thought were widely spread due to its publication.Fourth, the thesis discloses the historical meaning of the publicity of Mao Zedong Thought at the border region lied on the edge of Shan Xi; Cha Ha'er and He Bei. The publicity of Mao Zedong Thought at the border region had its own characteristics. For example, making the ordinary people understand and carry out Mao's thought was the main goal of the publicity and a lot of hardships on the environment of publicity can be obviously noticed as well. Plus, the publicity of Mao Zedong Thought was taken as a powerful defense to the side effects of Kuo Ming Tang's political propaganda. And both the leadership of Mao Zedong and the status of Mao Zedong Thought were doubtlessly enforced. Meanwhile, it would be enlightening to improve the efficiency and effect of the publicity on the standpoint of CPC by studying comprehensively on the publicity of Mao's thought at the border region during war time.Generally, this thesis is aimed at finding out the establishment of the border region lied on the Shan Xi; Cha Ha'er and He Bei and the publicity of Mao Zedong Thought at that time. And it also tries to make the readers understand why the Mao Zedong Thought was taken as the guide of CPC and how the leadership was granted by Mao Zedong with a deep study on the history at the border region then. Meanwhile, it is also hoped to be beneficial to the current publicity affairs.
